Ladismith Cheese Company

Ladismith Cheese are situated in the picturesque town of Ladismith in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Cheese has been manufactured in Ladismith since 1940. Under the leadership of Roy Taylor, Ladismith Cheese Company (Pty) Ltd was founded in June 1999 and cheese production started in a brand new factory on 1 November 1999. The quality products from Ladismith Cheese are now available in supermarkets throughout the major centres of South Africa.
Cheese Production

Production was started with 15 000 liters of milk per day and only Gouda and Cheddar were manufactured. Production has since increased and Gouda, Cheddar, Edam, matured Cheddar and Green Pepper Cheddar are now manufactured. Two new creamy semi-hard cheeses, named Ladismither and Old Ladismither, have been added to the range. Old Ladismither is matured for 12 months.
Butter

Soon after starting its operation, Ladismith Cheese Company started manufacturing butter on a small scale from cream coming available from the cheese factory. Later, manufacturing of bulk salted and unsalted butter for industrial use was added. Butter is now available in 250g, 500g and 25kg packaging under the brand name: 'Ladismith Butter'.
Ladismith Powder

Ladismith Powder Company (Pty) Ltd is a full subsidiary of Ladismith
Cheese Company (Pty) Ltd. The powder factories are situated on the same premises as the cheese and butter factories in Ladismith.
Whey is the watery liquid that seperates from the solid part of milk when enzymes are added in cheese making. Ladismith Cheese established a whey processing plant in 2004. This plant produces powder products like milk powder, buttermilk powder, milk blends and coffee creamers.
